Thank you for all you’re doing to educate your patients and the public about T3. It’s wonderful to have virtual access to an MD who is a thyroid expert and to realize, through his care, that it’s possible to feel “normal” again.
I am a Hashiomoto’s sufferer and a previous PCOS sufferer (had wedge resection in 1985) with sleep apnea and about 80 extra pounds. I crash dieted in 2006 and lost 82 pounds only to have a rebound weight gain of 35 back. I was on Armour but it is not available now. I tried compouned thyroid (USP) with awful side effects, now back on alternating Levoxyl 137 mcg with 150 mcg every other day. No T3 medication. When my thyroid “crashed” after my crash dieting I was taken off Armour by endo who said it was caused by Armour and put on Levoxyl and for a while Cytomel. I have fibromyalgia. It is hard to know how and/or if all these issues affect one another and which issue my symptoms are really from. It would be nice to see questions and information on what I call “cross overs” i.e., symptoms that could be from many health issues.
I just want to say thank you so much for this website! After having to beg my regular physician to put me on Armour, which I did very well with, he switched me back to Synthroid since Armour has been unavailable. My physician told me there were no other substitutions for Armour and that I had to be on Synthroid. Needless to say, all my symptoms came back. I found your website, did the labs, purchased the Adrenal Wellness bundle and the Compounded Thyroid medication, and am now feeling so much better. Your knowledge of the thyroid and adrenals is incredible and I have recommended you to my friends who are on Synthroid. Thanks for being here!
As a current patient of Dr. Bouc’s in WI, his thyroid and adrenal protocol have definitely done wonders. It is amazing how much better I feel with the compounded thyroid medication and adrenal support. I also have to say that I have changed my diet with the recommendation from Dr. Bouc and have cut out a lot of the processed foods and stay away from carbs/sugars. I believe that is key as well (along with regular exercise).

I find the information on this site very helpful. My mom is 97 years old. She has been on Armour Thyroid for well over 20 years. In the Spring of 2008 her insurance refused to cover the cost of the Armour Thyroid,so the doctor switched her to Levrothoxin. Almost immediately she started failing .I thought that she was dying until it came to me that it all started with the change of medication. I began to research Thyroid on the computer and thats when I discovered about the T3 and T4. Although I didn’t understand it until I watched your video, I knew that not getting the T3 must be the problem. I asked the doctor to put her back on Armour Thyroid and we would pay for it. At first he tried upping the dose of the other med. He did this twice ands I could see that It wasn’t working. Finally I convinced him to put her back on the Armour Thyroid. She had been taking 2 grain (120 mg). Within a short time I noticed improvement. That fall she ended up in the hospital with congestive heart failure.She recovered from that, had a couple of other episodes of hospitalization since then, urinary tract infection. Then she went a health care facility to recover. She was not doing well at all there. I asked about medications and come to find out she was not getting her Amour thyroid again. I insisted that they give it to her ,I even brought her’s from home. Well, she improved again and I brought her home on July 25, 2009, Since she has been home she is doing much better.
The problem now is that we can no longer get the Armour Thyroid. It is apparently on back order and their site can not say when it will become available again.
Can you supply this or can you tell us where to find it. Without this medication I know my mom will not survive, She has had too many setbacks. PLEASE HELP ME !!By the way, my mom has lived with me for over 20 years.
Carol, this is exactly why I started this website. You can simply go to the order page and order your T3/T4 medication. Currently, the only available product in your mother’s dose is the P-thyroid compounded medication. This medication uses the same raw dessicated thyroid as Armour. We have found the majority of patients experience no difference in how well it works. We have limited Armour thyroid from time to time but currently only have a very limited supply of the 1 grain tabs.

Carol–I just wanted to let you know that the compounded P-Thyroid works just as well as the Armour. I had to stop the Armour due to side effects and I am now on the compounded P-Thyroid. I am so glad that there is this alternative and I am having no side effects from this one. I believe your mom will do very well with this. Good luck to you.

I have been taking P-thryoid medication for about a year. It has made signifcant results for me. No more sinus problems, no more fungus under my fingernails, more hair, no more fatigue and clearer nails….the problem is my weight. No matter what diet I am on, I can SLOWLY lose but I gain it back almost immediately. Will T3 only help with that?? My hormones seem to be on an even level but I just am having real trouble with my belly fat.
